pirate plunge

This project is a research study which investigates the effects of exaggerated feedback within playful digital interfaces on sustainable behaviour change. Despite widespread awareness of environmental challenges, people struggle to act more sustainably, even if they have the right intention.

This study employed an A/B testing methodology where participants used a digital twin interface to input their shower data. One group received standard feedback and the other received exaggerated feedback via a pirate-themed interface. Over 16 days, participants used the interfaces after every shower. The study highlights the potential of exaggerated feedback and calls for further research.

As stated in my vision, I believe play is essential to changing a mindset. This project taught me that, if done right, playful design could raise awareness about relevant topics such as sustainability.
